Hot Cinnamon Spice Latte Recipe

Today we’re sharing one of our favorite drinks to get from Caribou Coffee. Abbie is writing today, and when I was in high school I worked as a barista for four years, while working there I made about every drink possible and more combinations of different flavors than you could imagine. One of the drinks people would order was the “Minnesota Fog” which is a “secret menu” item from Caribou, a take on the London fog, which is made with earl gray tea, steamed milk and a splash of vanilla flavoring.

The drink we’re making today, and can’t seem to get enough of, uses just three ingredients and can be made using tools you already have in your kitchen. The three ingredients used in this drink are: Milk of your choice, Vanilla Syrup (or another sweetener of your choice), and Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea (I gravitate towards the decaf version of this tea, as I love to drink it after dinner as a dessert).

The appliance I use to create this is the Breville Barista Express espresso machine. It is not vital to the recipe but definitely make it easier and makes you look like a professional.

For warming the milk you can use your range, microwave, or a milk frother like this one.

Steps to make the drink:

1. Add one tea bag to your mug. Pour hot water over the tea bag, just a few ounces, enough to cover the bag.

2. Add one ounce of vanilla syrup to the hot water and tea in your mug.

3. Heat or steam about 1/2 cup of milk, bring up to around 150 degrees fahrenheit.

4. Pour steamed milk over brewed tea in your mug & enjoy!
