4 Ways to Ease into Spring Cleaning
This time of year I start to get ansty to organize in my own home. Especially this year with the unseasonably warm Minnesota winter we are having. I am in the mood to clean, declutter and organize. If you are feeling the itch to do the same, here are some tips to follow through with your spring cleaning this year and of course, sharing our favorite products to make it an aesthetically pleasing process.

1. Purge - If the idea of organizing isn't particularly appealing, I strongly suggest starting with an area of your home that you are not sentimentally attached to. For me, this is typically a bathroom. I start by grabbing a garbage bag and doing a quick sweep of things that are expired or start by tackling the graveyard of half empty facial products I didn't love. (tell me Iām not alone!) Be ruthless, only keep what you love and what works for you.
If you don't clear some of the clutter, then all you are doing is reorganizing, and that's not usually the root of the problem, am I right? We need to eliminate and simplify, so we can clearly see what we have and need. We don't need all the extra crap taking up head space and cluttering our spaces.
2. Clear the space - Much like when we are staging open shelving, we like to take everything out of the cabinet/shelf/closet so we have a clean slate. Think through your daily rituals and lay out the space based on what you use most often, what needs to be accessible and what doesn't get used daily.
3. Like with like - when it's finally time to organize, we prefer to pair like with like. This could be on our favorite acrylic lazy susan, where we keep our hair products in one section, face products in another, etc... Or in the Kitchen, we use our favorite bamboo adjustable drawer organizer to separate our utensils into like pairs (spatulas in one section, serving pieces in another). If you have a system that works for you, stick to it!
4. Stop drop and measure - Before you spend a ton of money on purchasing a thousand new bins you don't really need, shop your house first! Maybe you have some items you can use or use differently. If you don't, then determine what you need for the space, measure once, then measure twice before you go shopping.
